There is only one flood policy available to you in the nation and this is it. Flood insurance is only sold through insurance agents, such as Snapp & Son Insurance. It is not possible to buy this protection "direct" from the government. There is no private equivalent to federal government flood insurance. The cost for a simple preferred risk flood dwelling policy starts at around $365 per year and may increase depending on your known and mapped flood risk and the protection levels you purchase. The cost is as low as $129 for condos. Many homeowners are surprised to learn that the flood coverage limit available to them is capped at $250,000 for a house and $100,000 for personal contents. That is the maximum limit. You may buy less coverage — but not more, at least not through the usual federal flood program.
